Re: Moved to the suburbs, Ideas?

I speaker switch is a good idea. Another idea. If the PV15 has two pairs of Pre-outs, you could obtain a second amplifier (power amp or integrated amp) and connect it to the second pre-outs on the PV15 and to the outdoor speakers. Then when you want to listen to your system indoors, you power up the...

Re: Official Schematics and Manuals Thread (Registered Users)

Conrad johnson just redesigned their website. Clicking on a few of the vintage and current products shows they have user manuals available for download for a lot of their products. Grab them now before they change their mind.

Re: How do you know when it is time for new tubes?

Hi RJ, Thanks for the clarification. I guess I would consider this as "tube testing" rather than "matching" but they are both similar I guess. In the ET5 there is just one tube so matching would be for the two triodes in the tube, unless you mean the tube needs to be matched to t...

Re: How do you know when it is time for new tubes?

Hi RJ,

Can you clarify what you mean by "this is because of not proper matching initially"?

Thanks,
Anthony

Re: ET3SE volume challenges

How much gain does the Odyssey Stratos have - it is not mentioned in the specifications on their website. I can't find an input sensitivity rating either. If it is a high gain amp, say 35dB (or to put it another way has high input sensitivity, say 0.75V to rated power), then this would contribute to...

Re: C-J HD3: replacement of USB DAC module with more modern HRT model

When I said buffer, maybe it is more correct to call it a booster/buffer? By that I mean it boosts/amplifies the voltage to the quite high 3.5V and buffers to lower the output impedance. Not that I really understand it but I don't think the circuit looks all that complicated*. More than half of the ...

Re: CJ ET3 ringing sound

I have this on my ET5 with a lot of vintage tubes. The volume relays are quite violent and shake the tubes around causing a decaying ringing sound (a ting) on each click. This is despite the ET5 having an isolated daughterboard for the tube. The ET3 does not have this daughterboard. The tings are no...

Re: C-J HD3: replacement of USB DAC module with more modern HRT model

That is interesting - I didn't know it was set up like that. I guess that means that all the rest of the stuff in there that is set up by CJ is an output buffer for the DAC module, and a power supply powering part of the DAC module. internal image http://media.tas.zeitpress.com/articles/images/c-j%2...

Re: Any bets on Conrad Johnson introducing new gear at CES 2016 ? ...

I wonder if 6922 are still compatible, I have a stash of nice tubes and am trying to find out if my GAT can be updated or not. I'd hate to not be able to use my current tubes. I guess that's going to depend upon whether or not cj has re-designed the amplifier stage so that the pair of amplification...
