Re: Conrad Johnson Premier 140 Vs Conrad Johnson Premier twelve

I forgot to mention that all rooms are inherent with room boundaries resonances. These resonances are the ones that we must treat in the room and they do not belong to the music. These resonances make to have usually a one musical note bass. Treat just the room corners. There is no need to treat al...

Re: I took the plunge and upgraded big time!

Mmm... that very speaker was on show at our last Melb hifi. The turn out was great but the show demos overall were quite disappointing. One of those disappointments were the PS Audio speakers, with a price tag close to 50grand AUD, it was no where close to any of the panel designs we own. In that c...

Re: ET7V2 Tube rolling.

Good info to have. I'm trying to hold off on the tube rolling exploits with my ET7s2 due to the current inflated tube price situation. I hope that it will return to normal in the future so I will probably play around with different tubes at that point. This kind of info is really helpful. Thanks for...

Re: MiniDSP & EPL

You may want to watch this. It's Paul McGowan's (from PS Audio) view on Dirac. I pretty much agree with him (ie that this stuff is for hometheater but not ideal for 2 channel),... but everybody has their own opinion.

Re: A new ribbon design... looks like a refurbed Apogee

They certainly look great. I would even say they are more aesthetically appealing than the maggie line, certainly more modern looking. I wonder if the inherent stability issues also are present. It seems like the footing is done in only 3 places. One of the biggest factors in planar speakers is the ...

Re: MiniDSP & EPL

Don't have the miniDSP but I have used their calibration mics for audio setups. They are a solid company making good products. I guess my question is: What are you trying to achieve? Dirac Live is like any other calibration software that has its pros and cons. I think it is fine to use as a starting...

Re: I took the plunge and upgraded big time!

They certainly do help. But at the same time, I could completely see how something this would be a deal breaker for somebody buying speakers. The footprint of this setup is huge, one could argue that aesthetically it's not the best. Compared to something the similar planar Diptyque audio speakers we...

Hola Chicos, My aim is for this product made in France. It looks very promising and have great price. Have a look: https://www.diptyqueaudio.com/en/41-english I've seen pictures of these before. They look spectacular. The Diptyque panels are really well designed and made with high-quality materials...

Re: PV-10AL on/off switch

Hi John. Welcome to CJO. CJ does not sell individual parts so I doubt you can order the switch. So that means you would need to remove it yourself to see if it can be repaired or replaced with an alternative. It should be easy to find an alternative toggle push switch. Or you can send the unit to CJ...

Re: A new ribbon design... looks like a refurbed Apogee

My other mates were saying that due to the extensive labour hours required, the installation & design team probably needed more breaks... Coffees, tea, bikkies, sodas, a few instant noodle packs, some ramen, boiled eggs... that type of thing, so obviously would be added into the cost! Also, if ...

Re: I took the plunge and upgraded big time!

That one system comprising of the highly modded MG20.7's was something else! I guess sky's the limit in what you can upgrade including the framework and overall rigidity of the panels. The other advantage of the older series is that the crossovers are external! So every part in there can be custom ...

Re: Conrad Johnson Premier 140 Vs Conrad Johnson Premier twelve

Robert, wise words. There is no magic formula for optimal sound and all the things you mentioned play a crucial role in evaluating audio performance. No magic distance from speaker, toe in angle, distance from walls, etc. We start with a good guess and then use experimentation to optimize from there...

Re: Streaming reliability and streamer updating

My wife wondered aloud at lunch “What’s Alison Krauss doing these days?” I googled and found a handful of albums over the last decade, the most recent of which is 2021’s “Raising the Roof” (her second collaboration with Robert Plant. Rather than order the CD or vinyl, I found it on Amazon as a 96/2...

Re: I took the plunge and upgraded big time!

No disrespect to Maggie's, they are true value for money and nothing comes close in that range. I've owned nearly every Maggie model (from the early MGIIIa to the MG20), except the 30.7's. I was seriously thinking about it but when my good Aussie mate ordered a pair and was the first ever pair to l...

Re: Conrad Johnson Premier 140 Vs Conrad Johnson Premier twelve

Nice system. Small rooms present more challenges than large ones, all things being equal. There is a bit of damping in that room (carpets, drapes, acoustic panels) so that should help. If you wanted to narrow the frequency response even further you could employ a calibration mike and runs some test ...

Re: A new ribbon design... looks like a refurbed Apogee

Well, they are very nice speakers but I was expecting a significantly lower price point considering they are made in Asia. I don't know if the problem is that sourcing materials is too expensive or they are looking for a money grab off of cheap labor? I guess the market will decide if this will play...

Re: Amazon Music and how to get true lossless bitperfect HD/Ultra HD to play

I have not found ANY USB C to either TOSlink or COAX. Do they exist? I did find a junction box that could serve two cables of different termination. But at what loss in performance? There are, and they are cheap. Example: https://www.amazon.com/Cubilux-TOSLINK-Thunderbolt-Converter-Compatible/dp/B0...

Re: A new ribbon design... looks like a refurbed Apogee

Definitely would be very interested in hearing these speakers and comparing them to the likes of Martin Logan and Magnepan. Of course the price point will also be a factor in how competitive they will be. I would hope that making them in Asia would significantly offer them an advantage on price, but...
