Re: Did CJ Ever Have Wood Cases For Their Preamps?
First, welcome to CJO. Great to have you with us.
I'm not aware of any CJ units with wood cases. Can you post a picture just for fun?

I don't have a wood case for it. I was wondering if anyone has ever had one, maybe custom made...

Re: Did CJ Ever Have Wood Cases For Their Preamps?
I’ve been following CJ for over 40 years and have never seen any official wooden cases.
As most know, McIntosh had wooden cases with panlocs from very early on. I’ve owned those with McIntosh gear, but they seem mighty clunky in hind sight.
Cooling is a big issue. The McIntosh cabinets had vents.
In the 60’s it would not have been unheard of to build the receiver, receiver preamp combo (MX), or preamp into a custom cabinet. But I’ve never seen one for sale purpose built for CJ. Of course that doesn’t mean it was never done.

It’s just stuff. I like mine. I hope you like yours. I probably like yours too.
