I may also add to AJ's note; CJ's circuits based on the Classic tube circuit, developed in the 50/60's where CJ just embraced it and made it better. With fewer parts, shortest signal paths and highly stable voltage & current power supplies, these circuits are quite simple. Nothing too complicated unlike ARC...

And that's why CJ's circuits are very easy to mod, especially to class A if you wish to go there. Nearly all their preamps are based on Class A, where they heavily rely on the preamp tubes in the linestage. Therefore, they better be very good tubes!

In regards to their power amplifiers, their circuits are based on typical Class AB in push-pull config using power beam pentodes in ultra linear mode. If you can squeeze out a bit more Class A bias, the results are remarkable! A superior quality in all aspects but half the power output... will suit most speakers even with very difficult loads. Obviously the person who's doing the mod must know what they're doing, otherwise disaster!

Cheers, RJ
