Addition to PV5 parts list

Post by chadbang »

I just downloaded the PV5 schematic and parts list from the site, and I wanted people to know there are two additions to the parts list to accompany the schematics.

On the schematic Q4 = 2N5061
Q5 = 2N4870

These are missing from the parts list in the current PV5 folders.

Does anyone have the service manual for this amp? Thanks!

If you have not already, Give CJ a call and speak to Ed.
He's hard to get hold of sometimes, but he's extremely gracious and helpful and I'd suspect he can provide some good info.

I've seen schematics for CJ gear around, but have never seen anything resembling any kind of service manuals. Good Luck!

what issues do you need to address?

The CJ is very straighforward. the only real changes needed are the electrolytic caps.

Ooh! If you're talking about sonic quality, ALL the coupling caps should be replaced; caps have come a long way in 30 years. :) I replaced the main-PS 'lytics with Solen 'propylenes with MultiCap RTX bypasses; that too increases sonic quality.
