paint for PV2 stereo cabinet

Post by Ssmith47591 »

The finish on my PV2a preamp cabinet needs help. Can anyone recommend a spray paint that matches the cabinet color of vintage CJ preamps?
Mine is being worked on at CJ right now but the person I talked to there could not help on paint.

Thanks Steve

Isn't the pain just a simple glossy black? I presume you don't mean the front plate which is just brushed metal.

No, face plate is near mint. The cabinet has several minor flaws and I would like to repaint it. But I don't want to mess it up with wrong paint color.
I will try a glossy black on something else and see how close it matches. Thanks.

Maybe take the cover to a paint store to see if they can match it for you?

If it were mine and I wanted to restore it, I would take it to the best local auto body shop. They can get a perfect match, prep it, spray it in a proper electrostatic booth, and it will be like new.

I agree, if you don't want to go DIY, then auto painter can do a nice job with painting metal.

They will also do the best job painting fiberglass.

Find the shop that caters to your local antique auto restoration market. The big dealership shops would rather work on insurance claims. The restoration specialists are more willing to do small jobs for cash.
