Re: Is CJ still in business?
About the bias lights blinking… Those are big amps drawing a lot of power. When you turn on or off another amplifier on that same power line you cause a small voltage sag or spike on that line which then changes the bias voltage to the running amplifier. Plug a lamp into that same line and watch ...

Yes it has been a bit since you asked questions. Sorry for the delayed response. Major extended family medical issues have been overwhelming the last 18 months.

Re: SA-250: Wharfedale Linton or Klipsch Heresies?
I would leave them as they are, unless you are just really curious.
In my opinion, of your choices, you have the best match now.
The Heresy efficiency is about 99 dB/W/M. The Linton is more like 90 ish.
The Heresy is rated for a 100 Watt amp. The Linton can handle more power. The SA250 can deal ...

I guess I deleted all those kinds of files on CJ gear a couple of years ago. If they turn up, I’ll contact the OP directly.

That unit was mine. I made that manual.admin wrote: Fri Jan 03, 2025 4:10 pm It's a picture of the manual, but you can see what it looks like here: https://tmraudio.com/vinyl/phono-preamp ... plifier-1/
I’ll dig around and see if I’ve still got the file.

Re: The Misic Room: Conrad Johnson ART300 Mono Tube Power Amplifiers
Question for microstrip,
Where are you located and is the power 240V 50Hz?
Thank you,
If it’s who I think it is, he’s in Portugal. So 230/50Hz.
FWIW, no one is trying to tell him that his gear isn’t “good.”
Sharing anecdotes is useful. Different experiences remind people that caveat emptor ...

Re: Electro-Harmonix tubes
I have had electro-harmonix tubes in my CJ gear that came from the factory, but have not purchased them from shop.ehx.com
Has anyone purchased tubes from this site and is that the official site for Electro Harmonix?
Thetubestore appears to have the same electro-harmonix tubes at 3/5 the price of ...

Re: Shipping tube equipment
Great! Good luck with the transaction.
Regarding transporting tube gear in a car, put in on the floor on a pillow, wrapped in blankets. If you put it on the seat and you have to stop quickly, it may fly off and get damaged. Better still, put it in the box and let it ride in the trunk.

Re: Shipping tube equipment
Take them out. One dropped box and the tubes are loose, or even out. Even in normal handling, they will get jarred/jostled around. You might get away with leaving them in. But why take the chance? Tubes aren’t free, and they are fragile.

Re: Hickok 752A tube tester with manual and data books
Just a follow up note for anyone else who might be interested. Being confronted with an actual possible buyer, I have wimped out on willingness to sell.
I’m going to keep it for now. I’ve got a guitar amp and a phono preamp that use tubes, and until I’m done with those, I’m going to just keep this ...

Thanks. I’ve got to do measuring, weighing, and carrier quoting.
I will squeeze that in tonight or tomorrow and report back by email when I have it.

Re: Hickok 752A tube tester with manual and data books
Just found this forum! Did this tube tester ever sell? Thanks.
I did not sell it, in part because no one actually expressed serious interest, and in part because I did not list it anywhere but here (this is a low traffic site as far as I can tell).
So I still have it in my heated, cooled ...

Re: The Misic Room: Conrad Johnson ART300 Mono Tube Power Amplifiers
So, at this stage are we CJ owners labelled as "suckers" enjoying those finest tunes...? Or are we just enjoying our music at the highest level in quality sound. One that's proven to fully engage with our senses and one that we've managed to keep in perfect working condition... ? That's what I'm ...

Re: The Misic Room: Conrad Johnson ART300 Mono Tube Power Amplifiers
As you say, audition is always a must in this hobby, my main point was that the sometimes referred cj ground loop problems can be easily solved if we have expertise or access to someone with it. And people owning tube equipment should be able to source proper tubes, tubes will need replacement ...
