Re: P12 vs 120s

Prem12's are special! Such that they were highly regarded in CJ's Premier line, and only second in overall performance compared to the mighty Prem8A's. I owned all three of these (Prem11A, Prem12's and Prem8A's) and the Premier line of power amplifiers ran for a number of years. They can still hold ...

Re: CJ Preamp with PASS Labs amp

Hey T, what are you doing with that Parasound mate???
Now that's not highend. No where in the class of CJ, although very good value for money I would say.

I've used Parasound in the past to drive Maggie's (MG3.3, MG3.5/r and the MG3.6/r). Just about ok... even had some big monoblocks driving that ...

Re: Conrad pv9 vs pv9a

Yes, very good point T. Also agree on the overall sound performance of the PV9 vs ET3SE... just totally different, that's all.

I wouldn't categorise the two in Highend or not... after all, both are made and designed by a very highend audio company that specialises in fine tube gear. So that's ...

Hot damn! The man has replied...!

I asked S-S those questions in Aug 2023! Now it's 2025... blink blink, sponge bob square pants!

Oh well, guess he must have been truly enjoying those finest tunes! Yes, the ART amplifiers will have no issues driving these very large full range ribbon panels ...

Re: My living room system.. WAF.

Very glad and interesting to learn that the Will-S amplifier matches quite well with your CJ PV11. Driving the Klipsch with EL34's in Triode mode should be a wonderful expansive soundstage. And fine musicality of course!

Re: New cj pv-11 owner. And new member.

G'day mate, greetings from Down Unda.
That's some nice classic CJ gear there. Yes, the PV11 is a wonderful thing. I remember those initial auditions with PV8, PV10L, PV11 and PV12, partnered with CJ's Premier series amplifiers (Premier 11A and Prem12's) they were fantastic driving various types of ...

Re: Bobby's house...

Nice one Robbo matey!

Those CLX's will be very very happy! It will be another level of further transparency and an absolute holographic soundstage.
I reckon you'll find a definite improvement of 40% nothing less, probably even more. BTW 30A of AC current is way more than enough. This is only ...

Re: CJ upgrades now bill thallman has passed

Hi Snodge,
Check out this long-running thread on audiogon from this guy, Davide, who heavily modified his PV10A over the course of a few years. Hope it helps - https://forum.audiogon.com/discussions/conrad-johnson-pv-10a-mod-experiences.

I'm in the Toronto area and just bought a PV10A (w/ phono ...

Re: CJ upgrades now bill thallman has passed

hi thanks for the reply. I am UK based and BT modded my prem 4 about 20 years ago when it was $2 to £1. I was also visiting Oregon twice a year so shipping and customs was not a problem....I have a very good tech over here......I guess some advice regarding what could be done to my PV10 and MV55 ...

Re: CJ Solid State Amp Recommendations

(...) The only downside or major problem I see with the MF series and the Premier 350A series of SS amplifiers is that they're all obsolete! In which case the parts aren't available for any of these original designs. Unless of course, you were to use alternative parts and modd the design... That ...

Re: CAV 45 S2 and Rel Subwoofer

Yes, that's correct Admin and good suggestion.

Only thing is based on my rationale, the CAV45 does not have any further active gain stages nor an active Linestage... hence the mv signals are quite low. If going trough a source component then using that onto the subs RCA's will still be a low level ...

Oh hell yeah!!!

I've home trialled these three versions of Pass Labs:
XA60.8, XA100.8 and XA160.8, partnered with my CT5 preamp driving ML's CLX's. Previously owned both the ACT2 and S2, and home trials done with Pass Labs XA30.8 and XS series amplifiers driving Martin Logan hybrid stats (Summit-X ...

Re: CAV 45 S2 and Rel Subwoofer

Nice one on the CAV45, great control amplifier. Remember it's not an ordinary integrated amp... it doesn't have an active gain stage on the level control like ordinary integrateds do. Rather, it's only a Passive level control, hence the term "Control Amplifier."

The CAV45 has a single input gain ...

Wow! This is an old thread... and still going. Great.

Have consecutively heard and owned the MF series amplifiers by CJ in various system configs. Comprising of SF, Genesis, Apogee's, Maggie's, Paradigm, Energy and Infinity's IRS systems, they all were very good but totally different systems in ...

G'day mate, welcome to CJO.

I'm thinking that you're probably not located anywhere here... Down Unda. In which case, you'll have to look around for a BT skilled techie equivalent.

Luckily for us folks Down Unda, we've got access to three top individuals who know CJ gear like no other. There's my ...

Re: Greetings from Long Beach, CA

Yes! Good one indeed. And great timing too, just about right for the new year!

Glad to hear the CJ preamp is fine. In general, CJ makes outstanding products, and their tube gear is not ordinary tube gear... it's far from that. Good to know the Premier series preamps are still performing well ...
